Force Master Chief Matthew J. Schecter

Master Chief Schecter was born in Weymouth, Massachusetts and raised in North Lauderdale, FL. He graduated from Coconut Creek High School and enlisted in the Navy in July 1993 as an Electronics Technician. He graduated from the United States Senior Enlisted Academy, the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Leadership Course, Executive Leader Symposium and the Navy Flag and Senior Executive Training Symposium.
Master Chief Schecter's sea duty assignments include USS Hawkbill (SSN 666), USS Michigan (BLUE) (SSN 727), and USS City of Corpus Christi (SSN 705).
In April 2014, he reported to USS Topeka (SSN 754) as the Chief of the Boat. During that COB tour, he completed a transoceanic change of homeport form Portsmouth Naval Shipyard to Guam.
His shore duty assignments include Navigation Master Training Specialist at Naval Submarine School, Navigation Evaluator on the COMSUBPAC Tactical Readiness Evaluation Team, Command Master Chief of Submarine Readiness Squadron 32, Command Master Chief of Submarine Squadron Twelve, Command Master Chief for Commander, Submarine Group 9 and Force Master Chief for Commander, Submarine Forces, U.S. Pacific Fleet.
Master Chief Schecter is currently the Force Master Chief for Commander, Submarine Forces U.S. Atlantic Fleet. Master Chief Schecter's personal awards include Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), and various unit citations.
