CMDCM Nicholas H. Harr

Command Master Chief Harr, a native Marion, Ohio, enlisted in the United States Navy in April 2003, and reported to Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois for Basic Training. Following completion of Basic Training, he attended Basic Enlisted Submarine School and Navigation Electronics “A” School in Groton, Connecticut.
In August 2004, Command Master Chief Harr reported to USS PHILADELPHIA (SSN 690) where he completed three European and Central Command Deployments. While onboard he earned his Submarine Warfare qualification, relieved as Assistant Navigator, and was advanced to Chief Petty Officer.
In November 2010, Command Master Chief Harr reported aboard USS MISSOURI (SSN 780) as Assistant Navigator and Navigation Department Leading Chief Petty Officer, where he completed two deployments to the European Command Area of Responsibility and was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer.
In July 2014, Command Master Chief Harr transferred to Submarine Squadron FIFTEEN as Assistant Navigator and Assistant Operations Officer.
In September 2017, Command Master Chief Harr reported aboard to USS KEY WEST (SSN 722) as Chief of the Boat. During his tour, the ship completed three deployments to the Western Pacific, and earned the Hugh McKracken Award and Battle Efficiency “E” Award.
In October 2020, Command Master Chief Harr reported to Commander, Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet as the Combat Readiness Evaluation Team, Chief of the Boat.
In 2021, he was selected into the Command Master Chief (CMC) program and was selected to serve as CMC of Commander, Submarine Squadron TWELVE, in Groton, Connecticut.
In his current position, Master Chief Harr is responsible for leading over 300 Military, Civilian and Contractor personnel in the training and assessment of theater-level command and control of Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) forces, preparing submarine crews to conduct all assigned advanced and combat missions, train Carrier Strike Groups and independently deploying surface ships to perform integrated ASW, and serve as the principal advisor to the UWDC Commander on all areas pertaining to Undersea Warfare.
Command Master Chief Harr is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Course and has completed the Chief of the Boat/Command Master Chief Course, Advanced Command Master Chief Course, and the National Defense University Keystone Course 23-2.
Master Chief Harr is a graduate of Walden University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology, Summa cum laude. His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 Awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 Awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6 Awards) and various unit and campaign service awards.
