CMDCM(SS) Joshua Williams
Master Chief Williams is a native of Providence, Rhode Island and entered the Navy in June 1999. He completed Recruit Training at Great Lakes in September 1999.
In March of 2000, Master Chief Williams reported aboard USS Providence (SSN 719), homeported in Groton, Connecticut, as a member of the Auxiliary Division. During this tour, USS Providence conducted Tomahawk strike operations during two Persian Gulf and Mediterranean Sea deployments.
His next assignment was in July 2004 aboard USS Augusta (SSN 710) as a member of the Auxiliary Division. During this tour he served as Leading Petty Officer.
In February of 2007, Master Chief Williams reported to Performance Monitoring Team at Naval Submarine Base New London. During this assignment, he advanced to Chief Petty Officer.
In November 2008, Master Chief Williams reported aboard USS Miami (SSN 755) as the Auxiliary Division Leading Chief Petty Officer. While aboard he completed two European Area Command deployments and advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer. He spent his last three months at the command as the acting Chief of the Boat.
In June of 2014 he relived as Chief of the Boat aboard USS Hartford (SSN 768), where he completed two European Command deployments, a trip to the North Pole, received two Commander, Submarine Squadron four Battle Efficiency “E” awards, two Navy Unit Commendations, and was the recipient of the 2017 Battenberg Cup.
In October of 2017 he reported as Command Master Chief to TRIDENT Refit Facility Kings Bay, where during his tour the command was recognized by the Department of Defense with the Robert T. Mason award for excellence in depot level maintenance.
In November of 2019, he reported as Command Master Chief, Submarine Squadron 20. During this tour the team executed over 50 patrol certifications and navigated the operational challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In April of 2022, he reported as Command Master Chief, Submarine Group 10.
His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (ten awards), and various other personal unit and service awards.
