Captain Eric J. Rozek
Captain Rozek is a native of St. Paul, Minnesota and a 1996 graduate of Pennsylvania State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Astronomy and Astrophysics and was commissioned via the NROTC program. In 2003, he completed his Master of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering from University of Illinois.
His sea tours include a division officer tour aboard the ballistic missile submarine USS FLORIDA (SSBN 728) (GOLD); he served as both Combat System Officer and Engineer Officer aboard USS PHILADELPHIA (SSN 690); and he served as Executive Officer aboard USS PITTSBURGH (SSN 720).
His shore and staff assignments include Assistant Professor of Naval Science at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign NROTC Unit; undersea action officer for the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation, Naval Forces Division; operations officer with Commander Task Force 74 in Yokosuka, Japan; head of programming, budget, manpower, diving & rescue for OPNAV N97; Deputy Executive Assistant to the Vice Chief of Naval Operations; Executive Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Financial Management and Comptroller); and Executive Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Integration of Capabilities and Resources (OPNAV N8). He also served with Naval Reserve Atlantic Strike Group Detachment Bravo as a naval reservist after resigning from active duty following his department head tour.
His command assignments include USS MISSISSIPPI (SSN 782) from June 2015 until May 2018, and Commander Submarine Squadron TWO ONE and Chief of Staff to Commander Task Force FIVE FOUR from April 2021 to March 2023. He assumed the duties of Commander, Undersea Warfighting Development Center in June 2026.
Captain Rozek served on Navy teams that have been awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Battle Efficiency “E” Awards, and the U.S. Pacific Fleet Arleigh Burke Fleet Trophy.
