UWDC, under the direction of Commander, Submarine Forces (COMSUBFOR), leads undersea superiority and enables the combat lethality and desired effects generated from, and within, the Undersea Domain. This document defines "Undersea Warfare" (USW) as any capability (or function that enables a particular capability) to produce these effects. The USW mission encompasses all relevant maritime regimes (e.g. space and Arctic operations) and brings with it the necessity to provide breadth and depth across multiple commands and the entire Doctrine, Operations, Training, Material, Leadership, Personnel, and Facilities (DOTMLPF) spectrum.
